Finding Your Groove: The Eighties: Wednesdays, 10:45 AM-12:00 PM
This innovative class uses music theory to help you advance your rhythmic skills while collaborating with other students who share your love of a good groove.
Description
Calling all musicians, dancers, and rhythm-lovers! This term, we’re diving into the bold, high-energy sounds of the 1980s, inspired by artists like Prince, The B-52’s, and Madonna, known for their driving drum machines, funky bass lines, synth textures, rap flows, and dance-floor anthems. Advance your rhythmic skills through hand and body percussion, ensemble groove-building, and exercises that explore tempo and internal beat-keeping, all inspired by the decade’s signature blend of pop, funk, new wave, and early hip-hop styles. Whether you play an instrument, love to sing, or use movement and dance to create your own rhythm, this class will help you take your skills to the next level.
