Musical Theatre Workshops at The Robin

Step into the spotlight and explore the magic of musical theatre across the decades! In this fun, active workshop series, students will sing, act, and move through different eras of musical theatre history, discovering how each time period shaped the stories, characters, and songs we know and love today. Each workshop stands on its own, so students can join one or take them all for a full journey through musical theatre’s evolution.

Description

The Golden Era (1943–1959): January 16, 1-3 PM

  • Celebrate the birth of the modern musical and learn what made this period shine, with examples from classics like Oklahoma! and The Sound of Music.

The Changing Times (1960–1979), January 30, 1-3 PM

  • Explore how musicals began to push boundaries and reflect a changing world, drawing inspiration from shows such as Hair and A Chorus Line.

The Second Century (1980–2004), February 20, 1-3 PM

  • Experience the era of big voices and powerful storytelling, with examples from hits like Les Misérables and The Lion King.

Price per workshop: $40 (Tuition Assistance is available)

Maximum capacity: 15 students

Location: All workshops take place at The Robin unless otherwise specified.

Experience Level: These workshops are open to students of all experience levels.

Workshop Registration Deadlines: The last day to add or drop a workshop is seven days before the workshop date. Students who drop a workshop less than seven days before the workshop date, or who sign up but do not attend the workshop, must pay the full price of the workshop. Students are encouraged to register for workshops early, as these will fill quickly.
