Drumming: Beats to Brain : Wednesdays, 2:00 PM-3:15 PM
Explore drumming and neuroscience while building foundational rhythm skills.
Description
This class explores drumming and neuroscience (study of the brain), while building foundational rhythm skills in a fun, hands-on environment. Students will discover how rhythm activates the brain, improving coordination, focus, memory, and emotional regulation through engaging group drumming experiences. We’ll explore how acoustic drums, hand percussion, body percussion, and call-and-response rhythms strengthen neural connections and support whole-brain integration. While our typical Drumming class focuses on learning new techniques and rhythms, Beats to Brain takes a more inward approach, inviting students to notice how their body and nervous system respond while playing percussion. Along the way, students will gain practical tools they can use in their daily lives to support regulation, grounding, and emotional well being. No previous experience necessary; PHAME will provide instruments.
