The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at Portland State University has a new exhibition called Mapping Familiar Territories, Charting New Paths! This show brings together eleven contemporary artists who use map‑making as a creative lens to explore identity, migration, place, power, and climate change.
This exhibition highlights artists who reinterpret cartography to question who defines space, uncover overlooked histories, visualize environmental data, and challenge traditional boundaries.

Located on the PSU campus Park Blocks, in Fariborz Maseeh Hall. Visitor entrance is on the first floor.
There will be PHAME staff on-site assisting with TriMet LIFT drop-offs and pick-ups. Please schedule your windows for 30 minutes before and after the field trip. If students want to spend more time in the gallery or downtown Portland, they should let a PHAME staff know before doing so and leaving the area.
The tour will run approximately 45 minutes, and then students may view the art at their leisure for another 15 minutes. Stools will be provided for those who would prefer to sit throughout the visit.
Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at PSU is ADA accessible and there are elevators that bring visitors to the ground floor and into the basement gallery.
Students may bring a maximum of one support person to the tour.
