Description
Join our field trip to Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at Portland State University for a guided tour of Storywork: The Prints of Marie Watt, an exhibition that celebrates storytelling through printmaking. Marie Watt, a Portland-based artist and member of the Seneca Nation, uses collaborative processes and everyday materials to create powerful visual narratives rooted in Indigenous traditions, pop culture, and personal memory.
This field trip invites participants to engage with Watt’s prints, including new works like Forest Shifts Light (Sequoia, Crest, Canopy), a jingle cloud commissioned for this exhibition. Through discussion and reflection, students will consider how stories shape identity, community, and our relationship with the natural world.
The typical guided tour is between 30-45 minutes, and then students may view the art at their leisure for another 15 minutes. Stools will be provided for those who would prefer to sit throughout the visit.
Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at PSU is ADA accessible and there are elevators that bring visitors to the ground floor and into our basement gallery.
There will be PHAME staff on-site to assist with TriMet LIFT drop-offs and pick-ups. Please schedule your windows for 30 minute's before and after the field trip.
